Dear Parent,
I am happy to have your son or daughter in my English class this year. With your encouragement your child will participate in and enjoy many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year.
Since lifelong success depends in part on learning to make responsible choices, each class has developed a classroom discipline plan which guides every student to make good decisions about their behavior. Your child deserves the most positive climate possible for her/his growth, and I know that together we will make a difference in this process. The plan below outlines our classroom rules, positive recognition for appropriate behavior and consequences for inappropriate behavior. They are:
Rules: 1. Be seated when the bell rings.
2. Treat others and their property with respect.
3. Be prepared for class
Positive Recognition:
To encourage students to follow these rules, I will recognize appropriate behavior with praise, "good news" notes home, and positive phone calls.
Consequences:
If a student chooses to break a rule, however, the following steps will be taken:
First time a student breaks a rule: Warning
Second time: 5-10 minute time-out in hall
Third Time: Lunch time detention/extra work
Fourth time: Call parents
Fifth time: Sent to principal's office & phone call home
A severe disruption (swearing, physical violence, failure to follow directions) will result in the student being sent to the principal's office.
Be assured that my goal is to work with you & your child to ensure their success this year. Please read and discuss this classroom plan with your child, then sign and return the form below. Please feel free to call or e-mail me if you would like to discuss your child’s progress.
Sincerely,
Thomas Bohmbach
